Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris is an American politician from the United States. Born on October 20, 1964, she is the 49th Vice President of the United States. She is the first female vice-president and the highest ranking female official in U.S history. She is a member of the Democratic Party and was previously the attorney general of California between 2011 and 2017. In addition, she served as an United States senator representing California between 2017 and 2021. Harris was born in Oakland, California. She graduated from Howard University as well as the University of California Hastings College of the Law. Her career began with the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Harris was later promoted to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003, she was appointed the San Francisco district attorney. Harris was elected Attorney general of California in the year 2010. In 2014, she won re-election. Harris was the junior member of the United States Senate from California between 2017 and 2021. Harris beat Loretta Sanchez in the 2016 Senate election, becoming the second African American woman and the first South Asian American to serve in the United States Senate. Harris was a senator who worked for health care and federal de-scheduling of cannabis. A pathway to citizenship for undocumented migrants.
